An impetuous center forward who is excellent at heading and understands the situation in the penalty area very well, Miroslav Klose is given to mood swings, something that at times prevents him from making full use of his potential. Klose was born in Opole, Poland, in an athletic family – his mother, Barbara, has put on the uniform of the Polish national handball team on 82 occasions, and his father, Josef, was a member of AJ Auxerre when the club won the Cup of France. At the age of nine, Miroslav moved to Germany, where he at first played with regional league club FC Homburg.
