We compare the results of real matches played by FTBL Super League participants using two criteria:

• match outcome (win, draw, loss)
• goal difference

Example: On January 3, 2026, Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3–2 (+1), while Barcelona defeated Espanyol 2–0 (+2). How would Arsenal vs Barcelona play out in FTBL? Both teams won, but Barcelona’s goal difference is +2, while Arsenal’s is +1. Therefore, the FTBL match Barcelona vs Arsenal ends 2–1. If Arsenal had drawn with Bournemouth, the FTBL score would be 2–0 in favor of Barcelona. If Arsenal had lost 2–3, the FTBL match would end 3–0 for Barcelona. And so on.

The championship is played in a double round-robin format: all teams face each other twice. This results in 38 rounds, after which final positions in the table are determined. Points system:

• 3 points for a win
• 1 point for a draw
• 0 points for a loss

The tournament runs from late February to December, with a summer break from late May to mid-July.

First rule. Football seasons differ across countries: Spain and England start in January, while Russia and China begin in March. Summer breaks also vary. This is not an issue for FTBL. If one or both teams in a virtual matchup do not play during the current week, we use their most recent matches instead. For example, since Krasnodar starts its season only in March and will miss the first FTBL round, we take into account its Russian league match from December 7, 2025 (a 3–2 win over CSKA). Second rule. An FTBL matchday lasts one week, from Friday to Thursday. If a club plays more than one match during that week, we count the one played in the middle of the week (Tuesday–Thursday — usually an international cup match). This helps balance the chances of top clubs like Bayern against the rest of the league.

• 15 from Europe
• 3 from the Americas
• 2 from Asia

Most teams are selected based on their performance in domestic leagues, with a few exceptions. Saudi Arabia is represented by Al-Nassr, while Argentina is represented by Boca Juniors — one of the country’s most iconic clubs, currently outperforming its historic rival River Plate. England is represented by all three medalists of the 2024–2025 season. Germany, Italy, and Spain each send their top two teams. All other countries are represented by one club.

The FTBL Super League is a virtual tournament, but it accurately reflects the current balance of power in world football. By comparing real match results of top clubs, we identify the strongest teams without unnecessary formalities. Final standings will be determined in December 2026.
