Liverpool star forward and Spain international Fernando Torres (pictured) took center stage in yesterday’s 5:0 drubbing of a clearly ill-equipped New Zealand by Spain in the Confederations Cup in South Africa with a hat-trick.
Torres offered a wide display of his talents, scoring goals that encompassed the whole gamut of a striker’s art: a curled ball that found the upper right-hand corner of the New Zealand goalkeeper, a cross connected masterfully, and a header to top it all.
The hat-trick yielded Torres 23.97 rating points to boost his tally to 212.39 points over all. He now tops the FTBL chart of Spanish, as well as English Premier League, forwards.
Torres has also moved up from 5th to 3rd place in the FTBL Top 23 of the world’s top forwards.
