Has Kanoute's Freefall Finally Come to a Halt?

Mali international Frederic Kanoute helped Sevilla put an end to their recent run of losses with a 2:0 win over Villarreal. Despite scoring one of the goals, Kanoute still failed to improve his FTBL rating.

Kanoute needed the goal like fresh air after the prolonged fall in his rating: he topped the rating of African players and was firmly in the FTBL World Top 23 just back in April…

But until the match against Villarreal, Kanoute had not scored a single goal, while Sevilla had lost four games in succession. The rough spell resulted in the Mali star forward exiting all of our ratings, from the Top 23 of the Spanish La Liga, to the rating of top African strikers.

In addition, Kanoute was in danger of losing his top spot in our rating of Malian players. In the match against Villarreal, he had a plank of 31.30 rating points to beat, which of course he failed to do. He actually lost 10 rating points in the game.

Kanoute could be theoretically swept aside from the top of the rating of best Malian players by Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita, who currently has 92.16 points over all. True, Keita is not a regular at Barcelona, but he still has a chance of grabbing the lead from his compatriot.

Kanoute still has a good chance of returning to his lost positions if he can earn a modest 8 rating points in the remaining four games in La Liga.
