AC Milan veteran forward Filippo ‘Pippo’ Inzaghi (pictured in the center) managed to grab the lead in our FTBL Serie A rating after extending on his spell of extremely productive matches; this time the 35-year-old scored again against Catania, earning 20 rating points in the process.
Inzaghi now has 168.03 points over all, topping in the process the rating of Serie A players by overtaking former leader Inter Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has also grabbed the lead in the rating of Italian players from Bayern Munich’s Luca Toni. To top it all, Inzaghi also tops the list of veteran forwards at the moment.
Inzaghi’s goals have been a boon for AC Milan, who have scored 13 against just 1 in the last five matches: Inzaghi has scored 6 of those. Manager Carlo Anceloti’s side now have a perfect chance of finishing second in the standings, which will open up the perspective of European football next season, while Juventus still trail with little chance of catching up.
But Inzaghi will have a difficult task in the games ahead: his plank to beat will be 21 rating points, and Milan will play against Juventus. The duration of Inzaghi’s leadership in the rating will depend in good part on how he performs against his former club.
