Strange and unbelievable things happened in the last round of the Austrian league: Rapid Wien, which are second in the standings, crushed their main rivals, first-placed Red Bull Zalsburg 4:2, with Rapid forward Erwin Hoffer netting a double.
But Hoffer, the leader of our FTBL rating in the Austrian league with 65.96 points, earned no additional rating points despite his exploit; he lost instead 13 points. The forward seems unable to beat the plank he established for himself in the World Cup qualifier between Austria and Romania, in which he had a double, helping his country to a 2:1 win. But the coefficients in the Austrian league are rather low as compared with those of a World Cup qualifier. And Hoffer’s three goals earned him twice less rating points than during the qualifier.
Hoffer is now in the field of view of second-placed Marc Janko of Red Bull Zalsburg. Janko scored Zalsburg’s only goal in the game and picked up a modest 4.30 rating points. He now has 65.04 points over all.
