Coefficient of Beauty in FTBL Standard Tournaments
The Coefficient of Beauty is the parameter used to determine the winners in the nominations “For the Most Beautiful Goal”, the best player in each position (except goalkeepers), the “People’s Choice” award and the “All-star Team” awards in FTBL Standard tournaments. The coefficient of beauty is dependent on the probability of an event occurring: the less chance of a virtual event coming up on the roulette wheel, the higher the value placed on the beauty of that virtual event. The coefficient of beauty can vary between 1 and 100.
Coefficients of beauty are calculated for every virtual event in a match (goal event or non-goal event).
In calculating an event’s coefficient of beauty the number of sectors of one colour on the roulette wheel is taken into account, regardless of which numbers the sectors contain.
Method for Calculating Coefficients of Beauty
1. The maximum number of sectors of one colour there can be on the roulette wheel is 29 (i.e. the 36 sectors of the roulette wheel minus the 6 sectors with the goalkeepers’ numbers and the “Captain” sector). For this distribution of colours the coefficient of beauty will be the minimum of 1.
The minimum number of sectors of one colour there can be on a roulette wheel is 1, in which case the maximum coefficient of beauty will be 29.
The coefficient of beauty for other amounts of sectors is determined by linear dependence: for example, for 2 sectors of the same colour the coefficient of beauty will be 28, for 3 sectors 27, and so on.
2. In the event of one team’s sectors being only in the “Captain” sector, the coefficient of beauty will be calculated as follows:
For only one sector in the “Captain” sector the coefficient of beauty will be 100
For two sectors in the “Captain” sector it will be 99, and so on down to 35 sectors of one colour inclusively, i.e. the coefficient reduces by 1 for each sector.
In the event of all the sectors in the “Captain” sector belonging to one team (the “Captain” sector is simply a sector of the roulette wheel), the extra mini-time is not played and the coefficient of beauty is calculated as for the sectors on the roulette wheel (see para 1).
3. In the event of the ball landing in the “Captain” sector that is divided between the teams, and there are active sectors (black and red) on the roulette wheel, the coefficient of beauty will be the sum of the coefficients of beauty for the roulette wheel and the “Captain” sector, according to the rules for the sectors of the roulette wheel (see para 1). It should be borne in mind that the maximum number of sectors of one team in the “Captain” sector is not 29, but 35.
4. Also taken into account in calculating the coefficient of beauty is the number of sectors of another colour between the sector the ball lands on and the nearest sectors of the same colour on both sides.
N.B. Coefficients of beauty do not affect the number of points awarded for a goal or non-goal event.
