Playing Rules for Title and Progress Tournaments in FTBL Standard Games
The outcome of each virtual match in Title and Progress tournaments is determined by the result of a succession of spins of the Dream FTBL Standard roulette wheel. At the beginning of the match the Game System allocates the colours of the sectors on the roulette wheel for the current match. Depending on the correlation of the virtual teams’ ratings it allocates active sectors (black and red); depending on the virtual weather conditions it allocates passive sectors (green and blue). In the event of the ball landing on the:
– black sector – the home team has scored a goal
– red sector – the away team has scored a goal
– green sector – the away team has attacked, but not scored – the home team has cleared its lines
– blue sector – the home team has attacked, but not scored – the away team has cleared its lines
– yellow sector – Captain
The number of spins of the roulette wheel is equal to the number of mini-times decided by the opposing users. A user can specify between 1 and 5 mini-times for a match; his decision will depend on the correlation between the teams’ ratings – the greater the number of mini-times in a match, the greater the chances of making use of his advantage in rating.
The correlation between the separate subdivisions of the teams’ ratings in concentrated in the Captain sector. In the event of the ball falling into this sector, an additional mini-time is played. The result of this additional mini-time is a goal for either the home or away team. If there are no separate sections in the teams’ ratings, the whole Captain sector belongs to the team with the higher rating, and it scores a goal; no additional mini-time is necessary.
The result of a match is determined by the difference in goals scored. A team receives 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a defeat.
In a match with a robot team a user can change his team’s match rating for the following match (up to 90 % higher or lower). If he plays against another user in the next match, his rating “loan” will apply to his next match against a robot team. In matches between users the initial rating cannot be changed.
The number of mini-times can vary between one and five. The total number for each user is fixed for the whole championship and is equal to 3N (where N is the number of matches in the championship), i.e. if in the first half of a tournament a user decides on 5 mini-times in each match, he will have to play with one per match for the whole of the second half of the tournament.
The parameters fixed for a match are confirmed by clicking on “OK”.
If a user does not select a number of mini-times and a rating before the start of a match, the automatic parameters for his team will be 3 mini-times and an unchanged rating. In this case, “I’m Back” will appear in place of “OK”; in order to change tactics, the user must resume control by clicking on “I’m Back”.
Robot teams taking part in tournaments have fixed tactics: the number of mini-times is 3, and the rating is equal to the actual rating.
