Set Pieces in FTBL Roulette
The game allows for two types of set pieces, called free kicks and penalties. In a match each team can take from nil to four free kicks and from nil to one penalty. The time the set pieces occur and their number are determined at random by the Game System, for each team independently.
The probability of a free kick is equal for both teams. The result of a free kick is determined as follows: the team with the higher rating scores a goal with a probability of 0.4, or 40%, while the team with the lower rating scores a goal with a probability that depends on the correlation of the teams’ ratings according to the table below:

The probability of a penalty being awarded depends on the correlation of the teams’ ratings, and is 1.5 times less than the probability of scoring from a free kick (see table). The probability of scoring from a penalty is equal for both teams and is 0.75, or 75%.
Both users are informed simultaneously of the award of any free kick or penalty immediately before it is taken, and are subsequently informed of the result of the kick. Users have no influence on set pieces.
The Game System chooses the players to take free kicks at random, while the penalty-takers are chosen by the users themselves.
The result of the match is determined by the cumulative results of the 11 mini-times and all the set pieces.
