The FTBL Rating is the numerical expression of a real player’s performance calculated based on a formula designed by the FTBL Rating Agency. The amount of rating points a player receives for a given game is calculated based on three factors: his individual performance, the result of the game, as well as the category of the league in which he plays, or tournament played. The overall rating of a player is computed from the combined ratings he received in his last five games, to which a tenth of the rating points he received in the other matches played by him in the past 18 months is added.
The individual performance of a player is influenced by the following factors:
a) For field players: the number of games played (among them the number of games played as a member of the starting lineup); the playtime in each game; the amount of goals scored; as well as hat-tricks and goal-scoring streaks. The negative factors influencing a player’s performance are: yellow cards; red cards; missed penalties; and own goals.
b) Goalkeepers are assessed based on the following factors: The number of games played (among them the number of games played as a member of the starting lineup); the amount of time spent on the pitch in each of the games; the number of yellow cards; red cards; denied penalties; and the number of games without conceding a goal.
A player receives a bonus for playing a game (irrespective of the result of the game), irrespective of the category of the game. The bonus is calculated based on the following formula: the category of the tournament (CT) is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.2. If the player was substituted, then the result is multiplied by the amount of time spent on the pitch and then divided by the length of the game. If the player came in as a substitute, the result is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.95.
A player receives a boost in the rating for every goal scored for his team. The boost is calculated based on the following formula: (0.25 × CT + 0.75) × 3, where CT is the category of the tournament or league.
In addition, there are 4 degrees of increase of the value of a goal, depending on the score in the match prior to the goal being scored. The value of each increase is a portion of the value of a goal in the given tournament or league:
1. A winning goal is a goal giving the winning team minimal advantage. Its value is equal to the value of a goal + 0.3.
2. A “draw goal” is a goal that gives a team a draw. Its value is equal to the value of a goal + 0.15.
3. A goal putting a team ahead. Its value is equal to the value of a goal + 0.15.
4. A goal leveling the score. Its value is equal to the value of a goal + 0.075.
If a goal is scored between the 86th and 90th minutes, or from the 116th to the 120th minute (in case of overtime), the bonuses are multiplied by an increasing coefficient equal to 3.
In very precise cases, the rating could be “virtual,” in other words meaning it is calculated based on data from the DreamFTBL playing platform. This applies to players during the off season in their league, as well as players who are referred in the FTBL.com database as “outlanders,” in other words players who do not play in one of the 23 top national leagues.
