The Portuguese Liga is nearing its end, and with six games left, yesterday’s Champions League flop Porto remain top in the rankings with 4 points ahead of their immediate competition Sporting FC. But the Top 23 of the Portuguese championship is headed by Sporting’s Brazilian forward Liedson with 106.03 points.
Liedson scored a double in the game against near-bottom-placed Naval, boosting his rating by more than 20 points. Nacional forward Nene added approximately the same amount of rating points when he scored a double in the game against struggling Trofense (2:1). Nene now has 70.39 points.
Porto players slipped in the rating as a result of their loss to Man United in the Champions League. Defenders Bruno Alves and Rolando have lost 7.17 rating points, each, and now have 85.93 and 60.78 points, respectively. Despite the losses, the two remain the best defenders in the Portuguese Liga.
Porto skipper Lucho Gonzales also slumped dramatically in the rating in addition to the injury he sustained in the game: he lost 15 rating points. His negative showing cancelled the 14.10-point bonus he earned in Porto’s 2:0 win over Naval. Lucho then scored one of the goals. He now has 63.02 points.
