Chelsea star forward Didier Drogba vaulted into the World Top 23 after scoring the winning goal against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final last Saturday. He now has 213.75 points.
The goal earned the Ivory Coast international more than 30 rating points, put him into the league of players with a rating of more than 200 points, and earned him the title of best- rated African player.
Mali International and Sevilla striker Frederic Kanoute, with 191.45 points, could represent serious competition for Drogba. But to do so he will have to score a hat-trick in the game against Valencia.
It was Drogba’s 7th goal in his last five appearances. In the FA Cup match against Arsenal, Drogba found the net at the 84th minute, after being marvelously set up by Frank Lampard.
Chelsea fell behind early in the game after Theo Walcott’s goal in the 18th minute. But Florent Maluda first pulled one back, before substitute Drogba had the winner. Chelsea will play in the FA Cup final for the first time under manager Guss Hiddink.
