Barcelona blew apart Sevilla 4:0 in La Liga action yesterday, while Valencia easily brushed aside Real Betis 2:1. The Catalans are now back 6 points clear of immediate followers Real Madrid in the standings, while Valencia have closed the gap with Sevilla to just 2 points.
Andres Iniesta, Samuel Eto’o (pictured), Xavi, and Thierry Henry scored for Barca. Eto’o’s goal earned him more than 25 rating points, putting him back among the leaders of the World Top 23, with 206.79 points.
Sevilla star striker David Villa was on to what he does best again against Betis: scoring goals. His first was splendid: he deflected the ball between his legs into the net after a low cross from Mata. He found himself alone against the goalkeeper at the 79th minute to score his second of the night. Betis were able to pull one back at the 87th through Ricardo de Oliveira. But that was all they could muster, despite their best efforts.
