Man United - Tottenham: Can Vidic Assure United's Defense?

Manchester United will host Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League action this weekend, with much riding on this one for the team and Sir Alex Ferguson’s men: if they win, they will firm their hold on the top spot in the standings, while players will be able to boost their individual ratings.

Nemanja Vidic will have an excellent opportunity to increase his lead over his rivals in the rating of defenders: he will need to earn just 4.95 rating points to advance. But he will have his work cut out with the loss of John O’Shea and Gary Neville in defense to injuries.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who let the chance to regain the top spot in the World Top 23 slip way in the game against Portsmouth, will now have to try better: he will need to earn at least 26.35 rating points to avoid falling further back in the rating. In case Man United win and Ronaldo scores a double, he will have a good chance of returning into pole position.

Tottenham’s Russian international Roman Pavlyuchenko will miss the game due to an unrelenting back injury. Darren Bent will most probably make the starting lineup, in pair with skipper Robbie Keane. The Irish international, who is the best rated player in his team, could return into the Premier League’s Top 23. All he needs to do is earn 9.45 rating points.
