The other UEFA Cup semi-final will pit Werder Bremen against Hamburg. If Hamburg are performing better in the Bundesliga, with still a good chance to even clinch the championship title, Werder players perform better rating-wise: defender Per Mertesacker (pictured left) and Brazilian midfielder Diego are both in the Bundesliga FTBL Top 23, in contrast to Hamburg players.
Mertesacker has 91.61 points, with a good chance of grabbing the lead in the rating of Bundesliga defenders in the coming 3 matches. He will have to earn more than 13 rating points.
Diego will have a more complicated task, given his impressive performance in the game against Hanover-96, which Weder convincingly won 4:0. The Brazilian playmaker then racked in 21.20 rating points after scoring a goal. But Diego obviously has enough talent to improve on his previous performances. The optimal outcome for him would be for Werder to win, of course, and for him to score two goals.
