The combined rating of the top 23 Africans playing in Europe’s leading teams has dropped by 38.71 points, in big part due to the unconvincing performances of the big African names at Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona in the first legs of the Champions League semi-finals.
Three of the Gunners' African players lost rating points in yesterday’s game at Old Trafford. Ivory Coast defender Kolo Toure lost 8.70 rating points, Cameroon international Alexandre Song saw a drop of 14.55 points, while Togolese forward Emmanuel Adebayor led the fall with a loss of 16.36 rating points.
Barcelona’s Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o and teammate Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast also lost rating points after their Champions League first leg semi-final match against Chelsea: Eto’o lost 19.36 points, while Toure managed to limit his loss to just 7.99 rating points.
Chelsea’s Didier Drogba (pictured) faired no better with a loss of 15.51 rating points. Drogba has not scored a single goal in his last two appearances.
