Real Madrid's and Iker Casillas’s fiasco at Santiago Bernabeu against Barcelona resulted in the return of Chelsea’s Petr Cech (pictured in center) in the number 2 spot in our FTBL Top 23 rating of world best goalkeepers. Cech earned 11.00 rating points in Chelsea’s comfortable 3:1 win over Fulham in English Premier League action. The Czech international now has 123.90 points over all, while Barcelona’s Victor Valdes, with 122.70 points, has overtaken Casillas to occupy the third spot.
Casillas’s slump has most beneficially reflected on Manchester United’s Edwin van der Sar’s rating: The 38-year-old Dutch international, who was rested in the game against Middlesbrough, retained his rating of 140.07 points and is now back in the top spot.
Edwin van der Sar’s lead over his rivals is now at approximately 20 rating points, and he has a perfect opportunity to extend it even further; he will have a plank of just 5 rating points to beat in the coming Champions League semi-final second leg match against Arsenal.
