The goals scored by Yossi Benayoun and Dirk Kuyt (pictured) in the mauling of Newcastle United by Liverpool 3:0 on Sunday have allowed the two gunners to return in a dramatic rise into our FTBL World Top 23. Benayoun opened the score at the 22nd minute after a cross from the edge of the area found his knee, and Dutch international Dirk Kuyt added the second six minutes later with a diving header from a Steven Gerrard corner.
With 19.89 rating points earned in the game, Kuyt has moved up into second position in our rating of best world forwards with a tally of 207.43 points. He is also the best rated Dutch forward at the moment. Teammate Yossi Benayoun earned a whopping 25.45 rating points in the game and is now in sixth place in our rating of most valuable midfielders with 141.27 points over all. Yossi has practically no rivals among his countrymen: the closest Dutch player to Kuyt is Bolton’s Tamir Cohen, who trails by approximately 100 points!
Liverpool’s huge victory boosted the ratings of another three Reds: goalkeeper Jose Reina picked 17.57 rating points, midfielder Javier Mascherano had 25.10 rating points, while Xabi Alonso earned 16.75 points. Reina is now firmly in third place in our list of best Premier League goalkeepers, while Mascherano and Alonso are 6th and 7th, respectively, in our rating of Premier League midfielders.
