For Chelsea’s midfielder Michael Ballack tonight’s Champions League second leg semi-final against nearly unstoppable Barcelona will be decisive in terms of FTBL ratings. The German entered our Top 23 for the Premier League with his 109.35 points thanks to Arsenal’s Cesc Fabrgas’s flop yesterday against Man United. Ballack is now last in our Top 23.
Ballack will have to earn 11.50 rating points in the semi-final, and provided Chelsea win tonight and the German puts up a good performance, his rating will improve. Another Chelsea midfielder, Florent Malouda, will have the chance to add to his FTBL tally. The France international currently has 109.26 points and will have a plank of approximately 20 rating points to beat; the 20 points derive from Chelsea’s 2:1 win against Arsenal in Premier League action in which Malouda scored the opener.
A loss for Chelsea tonight will mean an exit from the Top 23 of the Premier League for Ballack, while Malouda’s rating will likewise fall. In that case, Manchester United’s Korean midfielder Park Ji-Sung will make his entry into the Premier League Top 23 with his 107.90 points.
