Atletico Madrid’s Uruguayan forward Diego Forlan vaulted into first place in our FTBL World Top 23 after scoring a double against Espanyol in La Liga action. He earned a whooping 45 rating points and, with 229.82 points over all, is now the best rated forward in the world.
Forlan scored his first when he catapulted the ball just under the bar to pull one back for Atletico at 1:2, before Sergio Aguero leveled the score from a cross at the edge of the area. Aguerro earned 20 rating points in the game and, with 163.70 points over all, remains firmly in the lead in our FTBL rating of Argentine forwards.
Forlan returned in the dying minutes to grab his double and put Atletico up 3:2 after an assist from Simao Sambroza, keeping alive Atletico’s dream of a Champions League berth next season. Forlan is now second only to Cristiano Ronaldo in our rating of world best players.
