Marseille’s Senegalese forward Mamadou Niang has snatched the top spot from Bordeaux’s Marouane Chamakh in our FTBL rating of best forwards in the French Ligue 1 after scoring one of the goals in his side’s 2:0 win at Nice yesterday.

Niang, after earning 25.61 rating points in the game, vaulted to the top of our FTBL Top 23 for the French Ligue 1 with 145.18 points over all.

Chamakh, the former leader, failed to score in Bordeaux’s 2:1 win at  Valenciennes. He lost 9.39 rating points and slid to 2nd place with an overall rating of 135.28 points. Our rating is calculated with account of only the latest 5 games of the player, while the player’s points earned prior to his last five are multiplied by a coefficient of 0.1.
