Barcelona’s Brazilian defender Dani Alves (pictured) brushed aside teammate Carles Puyol to take the lead in our FTBL rating of La Liga defenders after the Catalan beat Athletic Bilbao 4:1 to lift the Copa del Rey.
Alves picked up 9.60 rating points in the game, while skipper Carles Puyol had just 0.06 points. Alves has moved up to 1st place with 111.18 points, relegating Puyol to 2nd place with 105.82 points over all.
But Puyol remains at the top in our rating of Spanish defenders, while Alves, who ranked third in our rating of Brazilian defenders, has overtaken erstwhile second-placed Bayern Munich’s Lucio (104.21 points).
