Bordeaux’s midfielder Yoann Gourcuff is now basking in the company of such stars as Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in the FTBL rating of world best midfielders. The young France international scored in his side’s 3:2 home win against Le Mans and earned 25 rating points in the process. He has now overtaken Chelsea’s Frank Lampard (155.61 points) and trails Liverpool's Steven Gerrard (164.25 points) by just a few points.
Lampard will have a chance to fight back tonight, when Chelsea host Blackburn Rovers: his plank to beat will be 13 rating points, while Gerrard could widen the gap with Gourcuff when Liverpool travel to West Bromwich Albion: his plank to beat will be 16 rating points.
