Chelsea’s French striker Nicolas Anelka (pictured) could well topple Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney to grab the first spot in the FTBL rating of best forwards in the English Premier League before the end of the season.
After scoring the second goal in Chelsea’s 2:0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge and earning 9.30 rating points in the process, the France international boosted his overall rating to 166.72 points, just 3 points behind Rooney, the leader of the FTBL rating of forwards in the Premier League, who has not found the net in a few games in a row.
Since the FTBL rating takes into account only points earned in a player’s last five games, while points earned in games played previous to those five last are multiplied by a coefficient of 0.1, Anelka stands to lose 11.7 rating points in the next round of the Premier League, while Rooney will lose 14 rating points.
