Atletico Madrid’s players, led by striker Diego Forlan (pictured in front), upset the established order in the FTBL Top 23 for La Liga after Saturday’s round: Argentine striker Sergio Aguero joined his Uruguayan teammate in the Top 23 for forwards, while another 5 players entered the elite of the Spanish championship.
Atletico Madrid’s resounding victory (4:1) at Athletic Bilbao made sure its lineup got pretty hefty rating marks: Diego Forlan, the best striker in the world according to FTBL, confirmed his high rating with a hat-trick and earned a whopping 58 rating points in the process. With 304.42 points over all (a feat that only Cristiano Ronaldo was able to pull off about a year ago), the Uruguayan now tops all of our ratings: the FTBL rating of Uruguayan players, of Latin American players, of La Liga, and the World Top 23.
Forlan’s partner in attack Sergio Aguero earned 12.96 rating points and moved up from 6th to 4th position with 170.46 points over all despite failing to score. In addition, goalkeeper Leo Franco; defender Tomas Ujfalusi; midfielders Paulo Assunção, Maxi Rodriguez, and Raul Garcia have also joined the FTBL Top 23 for La Liga.
