Frank Lampard’s winner in the FA Cup final against Everton (2:1) ended his much-talked–about goal drought and earned him 18.44 rating points to bring the Chelsea celebrated midfielder within less than a point from Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard, his direct rival in FTBL ratings for the Premier League and for English players.
Lampard had not scored since the Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool on April 14, when he had a double in the 4:4 draw. The Chelsea halfback now has 173.55 points over all, against Gerrard’s 173.88. Gerrard continues to top the FTBL rating of English midfielders, while he ranks 4th in the World Top 23, our rating of the world’s top 23 midfielders.
Lampard is now second in the FTBL rating of English midfielders and 5th in the World Top 23, ahead of Bordeaux's up-and-coming star Yoann Gourcuff (144.06).
