The leader of the FTBL rating of the world’s best forwards, Diego Forlan (pictured), completed his phenomenal season in style with a goal that helped Atletico Madrid to a 3:0 home win over Almeria and a spot in the qualifying round of the Champions League for next season. Forlan also drew the line under his drawn-out battle with Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o for the title of top scorer in La Liga with a tally of 32 goals.
The Uruguay international has scored in six appearances in a row. He beat his high plank of 25 rating points for the game and ends the season with 333.72 points over all, a record in the FTBL rating of forwards.
Only Manchester United star midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo has had a higher rating of 366.71 points over all, which he established on April 13, 2008.
