Sweden’s fortunes in the World Cup 2010 qualifier against Denmark tomorrow will hinge heavily on the performance of Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will have a perfect opportunity to help his country qualify for South Africa 2010 and boost his overall rating in the process with a plank of just 1 rating point to beat.
With a tally of 192 points over all, Ibrahimovic appears to be the only credible rival to Wolfsburg’s Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko for the top spot in the FTBL Top 23 of European forwards.
The next World Cup qualifier for the Swedes will be against Malta, a game in which Ibrahimovic will have a substantially higher plank of 22 rating points to beat. It is hard, however, to picture Malta serving up serious opposition to the Swedes: the Maltese have scored just once in this World Cup qualifying cycle.
