England’s serene 4:0 win away in Kazakhstan in a World Cup 2010 qualifier has allowed Chelsea defenders Ashley Cole (on the left in the picture) and John Terry (on the right) to re-claim the 1st and 2nd spots in the FTBL rating of the world’s best defenders, as we predicted, while Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard has slipped back.
Cole and Terry picked up 17.25 rating points each to boost their overall numbers to 141.26 and 136.71 points, respectively. Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher, who has not played with England since rejecting a callup from then manager Steve McClarren, has an unchanged rating of 132.74 points.
