Santiago Silva (pictured left), the Uruguayan forward of Banfield in the Argentinean Primera A, grabbed a double in his side’s 5:0 trashing of Independiente to boost his rating by 28 rating points.
Silva could well claim the second spot in the FTBL Top 23 of Uruguayan forwards in the near future, as his rivals, second-placed Luis Suarez (105.13 points) of Ajax and Palermo’s Edison Cavani (92.35 points), who is third, now appear all within sight: Silva currently has 91.57 points. The Dutch and Italian championships have concluded, while the Argentinean Primera A continues to trot along.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Forlan, the best Uruguayan forward at the moment, continues to drop in the ratings: he lost 25 rating points in Uruguay’s 2:2 draw with Venezuela in a recent World Cup 2010 qualifier, despite scoring a goal. Forlan now has time to rest and prepare for his next sorties: he will have to earn at least 150 rating points in his next three to avoid a further fall in ratings.
