Villarreal defender and Spain international Juan Capdevila (pictured left) could grab the top spot from Chelsea’s John Terry in the FTBL Top 23 of the world’s top defenders following Spain’s game today in the Confed Cup: Capdevila currently has 127.19 points over all, some 14 rating points behind Terry.
Capdevila will have a plank of just 2 rating points to beat, which means a win for Spain without conceding a goal will power the Spaniard to the top of our rating.
Meanwhile, Barcelona skipper Carles Puyol, who is closer to the top spot than Capdevila with 131.64 points over all, will have a more daunting plank of 14.40 rating points to beat. To climb to the top, a win will not be enough for Puyol; he will need to score in addition.
