Everton’s South African midfielder Steven Pienaar (pictured in front) returned in the Top 23 of Africa’s best players after his country’s 2:0 win over hapless New Zealand in the Confed Cup.
The playmaker could not earn a single rating point in his previous two appearances for his club and the national team, which led to a drop of 20 points in his rating and exit from the Top 23. Pienaar was able to boost his tally to 77.34 points after the game against the All Whites and re-claim a spot in the African elite.
He now ranks 6th on the chart and remains the best South African midfielder. His nearest rival among South African players is Rubin’s Macbeth Sibaya, with 65.10 points over all.
