Arsenal’s Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor will have an opportunity to boost his sagging rating when Togo take on Morocco in World Cup 2010 qualifying on June 20. With a plank of just 2.44 rating points to beat, Adebayor, who is currently not even in the Top 23 of African players, should be able to turn the tide.
Despite still being the best Togolese player at the moment, the once-fearsome Arsenal forward will have to try hard to secure a return to the elite of African players, as even a double against Morocco and a victory for Togo cannot guarantee such a return. A lot will also hand on the results in other World Cup qualifiers in the Africa zone and, especially, on the performances of his main rivals, Olympique Marseille’s Cote D’Ivoire international Bakari Kone and Sevilla’s Mali international Frederic Kanoute.
