The U.S. yesterday pulled off a stunning 2:0 victory over top-ranked Spain in the Confed cup in South Africa to see the ratings of their leading players shoot up dramatically: LA Galaxi forward Landon Donovan (pictured left) has now grabbed the top spot in the FTBL rating of U.S. forwards with 76 points over all.

Donovan, who produced an inspiring performance to lead his teammates to an historic victory, picked up 13 rating points and has now moved up to 202nd place in our rating of the world’s best forwards.

Charlie Davies of Hammarby IF (Swedish league) now has 67.16 points, while Joze Altidore of Xerez CD (Spanish league), the author of the first goal, is now 3rd among U.S. forwards with 67.08 points. Altidore earned a whopping 26 rating points in the game, while Davies picked up 14.13 points.
