Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso (pictured left), who scored the winner for Spain against hosts South Africa in the game for the 3rd place in the Confederations Cup has returned in the elite of English Premier League midfielders.

Alonso played a key role in helping Spain snatch a 3:2 win in OT when he found the net from a free Kick in the 106th minute. He picked up 22.90 rating points to boost his tally to 143.61 points and grab the 3rd spot in the FTBL ranking of English Premier League midfielders.

Alonso now ranks 2nd in our ranking of Spanish midfielders behind Barcelona’s Xavi, who has 161.48 points at the moment.
