Estudiantes de La Plata’s 36-year-old veteran defender Rolando Schiavi (pictured) has pushed legendary AC Milan and Italy defender Paolo Maldini out of the FTBL World Top 23 of veteran defenders.
Schiavi earned the 5.24 rating points that allowed him to edge out Maldini in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores final at home against Brazil’s Cruzeiro (0:0).
The Argentine now has an overall rating of 60.54 points against Maldini’s 58.35 points. It is worth remembering that Maldini announced his retirement from professional football at the end of last season. Schiavi is 169th in the FTBL world ranking of veteran defenders, while Maldini is 193rd on the same chart.
