Chelsea midfielder and England international Joe Cole remains under the watching eyes of doctors as he prepares for a new season that promises added excitement: Cole, who at the moment has an overall rating of just 64.84 points, could face serious competition from new signing Yuri Zhirkov (from CSKA Moscow), who has a better rating of 80.78 points.
But Zhirkov could well be pulled more to the back, in which case he will have to settle for much tougher competition from right-back Ashley Cole (pictured), another England international: Ashley Cole has an overall rating of 136.57 points at the moment. Rating-wise, Ashley is behind only teammate John Terry (141.75 points) and Bayern Munich’s Lucio (140.27 points) in the FTBL world ranking of defenders.
Chelsea’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti has said he would rely on Zhirkov as a player capable of covering a whole flank of the field.
