Real Madrid are reportedly so keen on getting Liverpool playmaker and Spain international Xabi Alonso they are ready to surrender Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder (pictured) in an eventual trade. Will the Dutch international prove good value for the Reds if a deal is concluded?
Xabi had a bumper season at Anfield Road, ending with an overall FTBL rating of 142.72 points, while Sneijder was not an example of stability towards the end of the season at the Barnabeu and had little playtime: he ended with an overall tally of just 85.77 points, a poor showing considering his talent. It helps to recall that the Dutchman had a rating of over 170 points last summer at the pick of form.
Sneijder picked up on average just 8.92 rating points per game last season against Xabi’s 10.47 points. The Spaniard also has a better star index of 6.9% to Sneijder’s 4.6%. But the differences here are anything but overwhelming. The Dutchman actually leads in individual contribution to the rating (13% against 6.9%). Sneijder might even be helped by the fact that he will be reunited at Liverpool with Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel, two teammates in the national team.
