Estudiantes de La Plata defender German Re (pictured) captured the 6th place in the FTBL Top 23 for South American defenders after winning the Copa Libertadores against Brazil’s Cruzeiros in a two-leg final.

After a goalless draw in the first leg in Argentina, Estudiantes manage to come from behind to claim victory (2:1) in South America’s equivalent of the Champions League. Re played the entire game and boosted his overall rating to 88.51 points.

Re is now 36th in the FTBL world ranking of defenders and 1st in our ranking of Argentinean defenders (slightly ahead of Inter Milan skipper Javier Zanetti). Re also tops our rating of defenders in the Argentinean Primera A.
