Should Heinze Trade Real Madrid for Marseille?

Real Madrid and Olympique de Marseille have reached a tentative agreement for the transfer of Argentine defender Gabriel Heinze (pictured) to the French Ligue one side, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca. The transfer could be concluded shortly after the details are hammered out.

Heinze, who had an appalling end of season, not unlike Real Madrid, has an overall FTBL rating of just 36.66 points at the moment. With such a tally, he will trail almost every defender in Marseille’s first team. But that wouldn’t be the most daunting obstacle for the Argentine who, after all, had a rating of 95 points at the peak of form last season.

The most daunting challenge for Heinze in the new team could be the very high quality of Marseille’s defensive players: Nigeria international Taye Taiwo has a rating of 97.08 points at the moment, while Brazilian Hilton has 78.36 points. Laurent Bonnart has an even bigger tally of 85.62 points and concluded last season as one of the best defenders in the Ligue 1. To top it all, Marseille has already strengthened its defense with the purchase in the off season of Ligue 1 and Africa’s best defender Suleymane Diawara, who has an overall FTBL rating of 105.34 points at the moment.
