Bayern Munich skipper Mark van Bommel sustained injury in the season opener against 1899 Hoffenheim that ended in a frustrating draw for the Bavarian club yesterday. Despite the less-than-outstanding performance, the Dutch international picked up over 11 rating points on the FTBL scale.
Van Bommel was substituted by Ukraine international Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, who got an unexpected opportunity to showcase his talent and garner rating points.
The Dutchman remains at the top of the FTBL ranking of midfielders in the German Bundesliga and among Dutch midfielders with a tally of 127.94 points, while Tymoshchuk has just 56.55 points overall. But with van Bommel now injured, Tymoshchuk could well be on his way to ascendancy in the ratings: he will automatically receive a bonus of 2.05 points in the next game in our system. The bonus results from his loss of the same amount of rating points in a 0:1 loss with Zenith St.Petersburg in the Russian league.
