Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger (pictured) scored the opener in Germany’s 2:0 win over Azerbaijan in a World Cup 2010 qualifier Wednesday to simultaneously capture the top spots in the FTBL rankings of midfielders in the German Bundesliga and German playmakers.

Schweinsteiger’s goal came just 12 minutes into the game in Baku’s Tokif Bakhramov stadium. The effort helped push the German’s overall FTBL rating to 137.05 points.

Schweinsteiger has now overtaken Wolfsburg’s Bosnian Zvjezdan Misimovic (130.58 points) as the best midfielder in the Bundesliga and is ahead of Chelsea’s Michael Ballack (111.23 points) in our ranking of German midfielders.
