The battle in the FTBL ranking of goalkeepers in the English Premier League kicked off with a vengeance right from the very start of the new season with the leader, Liverpool’s José Reina, losing 14.14 rating points as the Reds fell to Tottenham Hotspurs 0:1, while number-two ranked Petr Cech of Chelsea (pictured second from the left) picked up 4.52 rating points as the Blues overcame Hull City 2:1.
Reina failed to clear his plank of 14.60 points against Spurs, which he set in the 3:0 win over Newcastle United last season. Cech, on the contrary, earned a bonus despite conceding a goal against Hull City.
The Czech international now has an overall FTBL rating 117.79 points, against Reina’s 120.86. Cech could have grabbed the top spot if not for the conceded goal.
