Wolfsburg’s Swiss goalkeeper Diego Benaglio (pictured) is threatening to elbow Manchester United’s Edwin van der Sar out of the 3rd spot in the FTBL World Ranking of goalkeepers. The Dutch goalie has been on the sideline for weeks now after surgery on a broken finger.
Benaglio picked up 15.5 rating points after Wolfsburg’s 3:1 win over FC Köln in Bundesliga action to boost his overall FTBL rating to 106.52 points. He is guaranteed a bonus of 4.5 rating points in his next appearance, which would take him even closer to the Top Three in our ranking.
If the Swiss international manages to keep a clean sheet in his next game and Wolfsburg win, he stands to increase his personal rating by more than 19 points. In such a scenario, Benaglio will overtake van der Sar (117.12 points) and Liverpool’s José Reina (119.14).
