Liverpool’s Spain international Fernando Torres (162.48 points), on national duty with Spain this weekend and beyond in World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Belgium and Estonia, will have a plank of just 7.44 rating points to beat in order to re-claim a place among the world’s top strikers in the FTBL ranking.
The Spaniard is 10 rating points behind bottom-ranked David Villa of Valencia in the FTBL list of the world’s top six strikers. While Villa (172.64 points) faces a higher plank he could beat only by scoring, Torres could use the opportunity to grab his spot or even do better. He may not even need to score or a win for Spain to advance, as his main rivals all face tougher planks to beat. As it stands, fortune could be all he needs for a return in the elite.
