Juventus’s Italy skipper Fabio Cannavaro (pictured) re-claimed a spot among Italian top defenders in the FTBL ranking after helping his country achieve a 2:0 win away in Georgia in a World Cup qualifier last Saturday.
Cannavaro, who had a miserable end of season at Real Madrid in which his overall FTBL rating slumped as low as 30 points, has slowly begun regaining ground since returning to Italy with Juventus. He has picked up more than 40 rating points in our system since the beginning of the new season, boosting his FTBL rating to 75.85 points. Cannavaro is now 77th in the FTBL World Ranking of defenders.
In a curious twist of fate, Cannavaro received the latest boost to his personal rating through the unlikely hand of AC Milan’s Georgia skipper Khakaber Kaladze (11.9 points), who scored not one, but two own-goals. Cannavaro earned 16.69 rating points in the game and grabbed the 4th spot in the FTBL ranking of Italian defenders.
