Chelsea’s African players had a big weekend in World Cup 2010 qualifiers, with Michael Essien (pictured right) scoring the second goal in Ghana’s 2:0 win over Sudan to earn 17.55 rating points in the FTBL system and consolidate his 2nd position in our ranking of African midfielders with a tally of 112.07 points, ahead of Olympique Lyon’s Cameroon international Jeam Makoun (104.91 points). Barcelona’s Cote d’Ivoire international Yaya Touré continues to sit at the top of that chart with 116.07 points.
Striker Didier Drogba (pictured left) helped Cote d’Ivoire trash Burkina Faso 5:0 with a double. He is now in 1st place in the FTBL ranking of African strikers with a tally 185.85 points, ahead of Inter Milan’s Cameroon point man Samuel Eto’o (176.91 points).
