Valencia and Spain striker David Villa is right on course to claim the top spot in the FTBL World Ranking of strikers going into Wednesday’s World Cup 2010 qualifier against football minnows Estonia.
Villa, who is known for bursts of prolific goal-scoring, will have a plank of just 1.40 rating points to beat in the game. He currently has an overall FTBL rating of 186.67 points and trails Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, who is the top-rated forward in the world at the moment on the FTBL chart with a tally of 201.97 points.
Rooney, on the other hand, will face a higher plank of 30 rating points to beat when England play Croatia in their World Cup qualifier. The Spaniard appears in better position to grab the lead as a result of the games.
Even a simple victory for Spain will earn Villa enough rating points in our system to power him past the 200-point mark. But if Villa scores, which is very likely, then Rooney can kiss is crown goodbye.
