Manchester United’s England superstar Wayne Rooney (pictured) held on to his top spot in the FTBL World Ranking of strikers, fending off the attacks of rivals David Villa of Valencia and Barcelona’s Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Rooney was on the scoresheet as England demolished Croatia 7:0 in World Cup 2010 qualifying yesterday at Wembley.
The goal earned him approximately 27 rating points to boost his overall FTBL rating to 106.01 points, the highest of any striker in the world at the moment. Rooney is also the highest ranked football player in the world on the FTBL list at the moment.
Meanwhile, David Villa was unable to find the net despite Spain’s 3:0 win over Estonia, while Ibrahimovic was likewise unproductive in Sweden’s narrow victory (1:0) over Malta. Villa remains in 2nd position in our ranking of strikers with a tally of 195.65 points, while Ibrahimovic is still 3rd, with 195.05 points.
