Despite conceding two goals in Real Madrid’s 5:2 drubbing of FC Zürich in their Champions League group stage match last Tuesday, Iker Casillas continues to sit at the top of the FTBL World Ranking of goalkeepers.
But the Spain international is showing signs of stress under the relentless attacks of Chelsea’s Czech international Petr Cech, who is in 2nd place with an overall FTBL rating of 127.24 points. He trails Casillas by just 4 rating points.
Against Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League this weekend, Cech will have a plank of 14.6 rating points to beat, while Casillas will have to clear a bar of just 9 rating points when the Merengues take on newly promoted Xerez CD in La Liga action. This means that if Madrid’s defenders produce a strong performance and Cech cannot save a couple of penalties, Casillas will retain his leadership at least until Wednesday, when the Galacticos take on Villarreal CF.
